Most recently, Mr. Dinges served as the Director for Technology Planning and Innovation at General Dynamics Land Systems. In this role, he was responsible for developing the GDLS technology road map, identifying new technologies that met the customer’s needs and supported continued technological innovations in GDLS products. His organization worked internally across the entire enterprise and externally with customers, users, universities and the industrial base to set the technology insertion vision for core products and concepts for future products.
As a member of the GD corporate Engineering & Technology Council, Rich has led efforts on corporate-wide technology collaboration through the technology conferences, E&TC subcommittees and Technology Clubs.
The MC2 Collaboration Center project at General Dynamics Land Systems in Sterling Heights, Michigan was a groundbreaking project led by Rich in 2010. He led the conception, design and development of this enterprise center designed to foster collaboration with the customer, the user and the industrial base. This project optimizes the use of physical collaboration space with a cyber collaboration network, and incorporates advanced innovation tools. The open source innovation environment represents a major paradigm shift in the way system integrators interface with suppliers and the user.
Rich has been a senior leader through many complete product lifecycles, from vision to fielding. He has developed processes in all phases of the product cycle to turn high-risk areas into competitive advantages.
